Stanley Netball Club welcomed UK based coach Jan Turley to the Falklands during the first week of December 2012 following their succcessful bid for a Quality of Life Scholarship earlier in the year.    The club has been going for over 18 years, and infact competed in the Small Island Games on the Isle of Wight in 1992 (netball was played as a demonstration sport only), but has never benefitted from any professional coaching.

A "Back to Netball" session encouraged beginners to come and learn the sport and "retired" players to return to show off of their sharp moves from days gone by!   This was a popular session and formed the base for the almost daily sessions held during Jan's visit.  As well as coaching the club Jan also led several sessions at both the Infant & Junior School and the Community School which will hopefully encourage some up and coming youngsters to take up the sport.   Some of the more experienced players also took the chance to have some umpiring coaching.

The Club looks forward to building on the new skills learned with the aid or notes and tips and to further visits from Jan in the future,
